Shrimp Pad Thai
Pad Thai is a stir-fried rice noodle dish commonly served as a street food and at casual local eateries in Thailand. A dish of stir-fried rice noodles is thought by some to have been introduced to Ayutthaya during the time of the Ayutthaya Kingdom by Chinese traders, and subsequently altered to reflect Thai flavor profiles. Others believe that the dish is of Vietnamese origin, and the etymology of the dish's name suggests it.
Som tum Thai is a fantastic raw Thai salad often made of shredded unripe papaya, sliced tomatoes, raw yardlong beans, peanuts, dried mini shrimp, and fresh garlic. Sometimes we find shreds of carrots and green or purple cabbage to add a pop of color.
A sweet, salty, tangy sauce made of sugar, lime juice, and fish sauce completes the dish. It can be easily altered by leaving out an ingredient or two (no shrimp for vegetarians), but don’t be afraid to try it in its original form.
The spring rolls come in a number of varieties and often called as Popiah. Popiah is popular food in many countries. The ingredients are generally flavored with stir-fried shredded vegetables, glass noodles and meat then wrapped and deep fried. Thai spring rolls usually served along with Thai sweet chili sauce or Ar-Jard dip - fresh cucumber, fresh red spur chili, shallots, white vinegar, sugar and salt.
Nam Prik Kai Poo
This is an eastern folk menu. The crab eggs are the main raw material, but the they are quite rare. Wait until the crab season. Eggs from one female crab can give birth to ten thousand crabs. So to conserve the sea crab, give a chance to propagate then the crab meat is often used as a substitute for crab eggs. Cook steamed crab mixed with chilli, garlic, lime and fish sauce. Well-matched with fresh vegetables, boiled egg or mix with hot steamed rice as well.
Lon Poo Kem
Lon is a one of Thai food menu which coconut milk is the main ingredient. Its intense aroma sweet and sour taste. Raw materials used in common is salty, such as shrimp paste, salted crabs, etc. Salted crabs originally used only field crabs. But locals like Rayong sea crabs like Meder'S mangrove crab or Green tidal crab, because the size is close to the field crabs and easy to find in this area. Many recipes are also decorate with steamed crab meat to increase the appetite.
Nam Prik Kapi Rakam
Nam Prik Kapi is the menu which shrimp paste is the main ingredient and apply by any raw materials available on that local area. Rakum is a fruit that can be grown in the east and south of Thailand, with sour and sweet taste and a unique aroma. It is used instead of lime by pounding some of the pieces to be pasted. Then add some small pieces of them for chew and flavor. If you like more sour you can add lime as you like.
Kanom Nim Nuan
This is vernacular dessert of Rayong which is a very rare traditional dessert. Currently, there are only one place to find in Thailand in front of Wat Loom Market, Muang District, Rayong province. The dough is made of glutinous rice flour and rice flour. Sprinkle with powdered on top. The inside made with coconut gourd, sesame seeds, roasted sugar, salt. The taste is mellow sweet, a bit salty, and smooth like it melting in the mouth.
Sedti Song Kruang
Snack that made with full seed A grade cashew nuts, crisp baked squid, sweeten dried pork, dried shrimps and fired dried chillies seasoning to sweet and sour, salty, and slightly spicy. All the ingredients are the famous souvenir of Rayong mixed together in a single jar.
Sala Loi Keaw
This menu is ideal for tropical cities like Rayong. It can made by many kinds of fruit. One of them is Sala which most widely planted in Rayong, they have unique aroma with a sweet and sour taste. However when there too many supply in the market the prices will fall, and rotten in short. So we processed its seedless in syrup and salt then frozen to keep it last long. This procession also add value to the product.
Blue Talay Restuarant
Blue Talay is a popular restaurant located on Mae Rampungh Beach, close to the Vip Chain Resort. The restaurant is run by a French man and his Thai wife. It serves both Thai dishes and European. Many of our guests in the VIP Chain Resort recommend this restaurant. Price levels are slightly higher on the European cuisine than several other restaurants.
Steak & Salad
When you come from Mae Ramphung beach, you will find Steak & Salad on the right side just before the big pier and the big 7-Eleven. A nice place to have something to drink and eat while watching the folklore on the main street. The food is fresh and cheap. Salads, pasta, soups, mackerel, hamburgers and smoothies are served here.
On the main street of Ban Phe at the banks you can find the Scandinavian restaurant Olearys which serves European and Thai dishes. They are famous for their good kebabs, meatballs, or why not try a Skagen toast. Oleary's also has a deli shop with European food and bakery. Do you miss cheeses, or Estrella chips, licorice, Falu sausage etc. at Olearys has a great variety awaiting you.
On the main street of Ban phe there are 7-Eleven. Outside the smaller 7-Eleven near Makro, there is a lady who sells chicken kebab. For 50 thb you get a really good kebab. The Thai themselves are often used to really strong food. To the kebab, they often choose a lot of chilli, ketchup, sweet mayonnaise with a little garlic sauce. Select the sauces and you will get a kebab that suits your taste.
A pearl of the Ban Phe Market is Satay Spatter on Pork. You will get peanut sauce for dipping and vegetables. The vegetables consist of cucumber, onions and chili. Satay stands on the food section of the market, in the corner of the Makro Way. Cheap and good! A freshly cooked corn will enhances the taste.
You just have to step out of the VIP Chain Resort to find Pama's restaurant. Pama's serves Thai food and some Western dishes. They speak a little English and maintain a high level of service. During the high season you will find a mix of foreign tourists and Thai people. The prices are ok, and the food is good. A personal favorite is their prawns with garlic, or spaghetti with meat sauce. They also serve breakfast.
